Members of the Orchestra

Orchestra members include students, working people from a variety of professions, and retired people. Some members come from as far away as Salisbury. Orchestra sections are conventional: first and second violins, viola, cello and double bass. Flutes and other wind instruments are a recent addition.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:45 at the old school on College Avenue in Onancock. Rehearsals emphasize phrasing, dynamics and sensitivity to other parts, as well as technique. Orchestra members are expected to practice on their own during the week and attend rehearsals regularly.

Music is selected by the music director, with contributions from members. Composers include Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Geminiani, Haydn, and lesser-known Baroque composers. Dr. Dundon is proficient in all string instruments, and is also available for private lessons and music theory classes.
